Calcite
Vein of calcite occur in Paleozoic limestones in Holy Cross Mountains and near the city of Cracow (Paczółtowice and Czarna deposits). Calcite deposits, occurring in form of veins, were documented in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
Calcite is used in ceramic industry. In the past, it was used in glass industry and as the fancy stone.
Anticipated economic resources, documented within three deposits, are estimated at 233 thousand tonnes as of 31.12.2015 (table 1). Resources have not changed in comparison with the previous year. Only in Radomice I deposit calcite is occurring as the main raw material, in others calcite is co-occurring raw material with limestones (limestones were documented for building and road industries). The exploitation of calcite has not been carried out in 2015.
